WATCH: Swansea Business Owner Baffled After Senseless Vandalism Caught on Video
An act of vandalism has a Swansea small business owner scratching his hear. Surveillance video at the Eat at Rae's Coffee Cart on Wilbur Ave caught what appears to be a stocky man with an awkward gate slashing the cart's tires over the weekend in Swansea.
Kyle Finn says, "Someone stabbed our tires and didn't seem to do a whole lot of other damage.
Finn says he caught the footage on the cameras on Friday night, but didn't pay too much attention to what was happening. "I thought it was a guy looking for his dog," said Finn. "I showed my wife the video the following day and she noticed he was stabbing the tires."
Police were called and filled out a report about the incident. Finn says police told him that a number of people reached out to them because they recognized the man in the video and that they are looking at him as a suspect.
"Jeez, did I cut this guy off in traffic one day? Did I make bim a bad coffee? I didn't recognize him at all."
Finn says the surveillance cameras at his cafe across the street caught the suspect's truck driving to the scene 4 minutes before the event and leaving two minutes after, driving back towards his house.
"It's not really that much damage property-wise. It'll cost me a few hundred dollars ,I guess, but what he did levied an emotional cost on our employees," said Finn. "The town has just been incredible, though. Everyone has just been so nice about it."
Finn says he's not wishing ill will on anyone. "I'm more curious to hear why he did it. That's my biggest question mark. I'd just love an explanation that makes sense."
