Seven Legendary Wareham Restaurants to Try Now That Lindsey’s Has Closed
There has been a lot of discussion this week across the SouthCoast about the abrupt closing of Lindsey’s Family Restaurant, a Wareham staple that had been in operation for 74 years.
Whether you want to take the side of the employees or the side of the owner, the bottom line is we’ve all lost out on any future enjoyment of Lindsey’s seafood bisque or any of its other incredible offerings. In fact, one singer-songwriter was so moved by it, she had to put her feelings to music.
Yet as sad as it is to see such a legendary restaurant closing, there are still plenty of family restaurants across town for folks to enjoy.
Some have been around long enough that multiple generations of families have celebrated their milestones there, and the grandchildren or even great-grandchildren of the founders are still toiling away each day to provide customers with an excellent dining experience.
We’ve put together a list of some of the longest-serving family restaurants in Wareham, focusing on continuous operation with the same name and/or owners while also offering sit-down table service. It's no surprise that most of them offer a menu with a variety of different types of cuisines, but yet also offer homestyle options just like Mom or Dad would make, except you gave them the night off from being behind the stove.
As you’ll see, there’s a reason why these spots have stood the test of time – but if you really want to know why they’re still around, just stop in and have a bite.
