Wareham Police Department Donates to Cops for Kids with Cancer
On Friday, October 25, the Wareham Police Association presented a check to Mike Weir, from the Cops for Kids with Cancer organization. Mr. Weir is the retired Dedham police chief.
The Wareham Police Association would like to thank all of the golfers and sponsors who donated and participated in the Association’s 1st Annual Golf Tournament, held on September 14. As a result of the generous support from the community, the association was able to donate $6,000 exceeding the original goal of $5,000.
Cops for Kids with Cancer, helps families who have a child battling cancer. Wareham Officer Lorenzo Grosso organized the event assisted by Juvenile Detective Karl Baptiste and Officer Calib Larue. The Association would like to especially thank the Little Harbor Country Club, host of the event and Mumma Mary’s for catering.
“Lorenzo, Karl, and Calib did an outstanding job planning and organizing the event. Most importantly the money raised will help a family going through a tough time.” - Acting Police Chief John Walcek
The Wareham Police Department won the FUN 107 First Responder of the Month award back in July of 2019. The sponsor of the program, ProGroup Contracting, donated $200 to Cops for Kids with Cancer on behalf of the department.
