Since 2015, Fun 107 and the United Way of Greater New Bedford have partnered to help local families through Holiday Wish.

The annual program helps families and individuals going through hard times. From health issues to domestic violence, loss of job to loss of life, the stories run the gamut.

Despite the hardships, there is hope. The kindness of our community truly shines as thousands have called in, texted in and donated funds to assist our neighbors in need.

Wareham Family Lost Their Husband and Father

The Hicks family of Wareham is hoping to have a happy holiday after experiencing the unthinkable the day before Thanksgiving.

Just a few weeks prior, on November 13, JB Hicks, husband to Cindy and father to London and Greyson, suffered a major stroke.

He seemed to be doing well after the stroke, but unfortunately, things took a turn.

JB suffered a pulmonary embolism followed by more smaller strokes and was ultimately put in a medically induced coma.

Sadly, Cindy was told he would not come home and on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, JB passed away.

What the Future Holds

Cindy, now a single mother to her two teenage children, is coping with the loss of her husband while dealing with the day-to-day bills, projects and financial burden for which now she is solely responsible.

JB was the breadwinner in the family. They needed his income to stay afloat. They needed him to fix the leaky pipes or paint a wall. They needed their dad.

Though there's nothing we can do to bring their father back, we can help ease the financial burden of the Hicks family and try to give them a special Christmas they so deeply deserve.
