Fun 107 Is Searching for SouthCoast Families in Need This Holiday Season

Fun 107 is now accepting nominations for Holiday Wish Week, and this year's deadline is October 31. Holiday Wish Week will take place the week of December 7 on The MGM Show, and we need your help finding the local, deserving families who need it most.

What Is Holiday Wish Week?

In December of 2015, Fun 107 and the United Way of Greater New Bedford teamed up to launch a different kind of holiday charity program. Holiday Wish Week helps SouthCoast families who have had a particularly tough year, especially families who might slip through the cracks when it comes to government assistance.

This program was created for local SouthCoast families only. Every family we help lives right here in our community, which means your donations stay close to home and go towards helping your friends and neighbors in need.

Holiday Wish Week supports families dealing with a medical crisis, the loss of a family member or a sudden financial hardship. We focus on one family per day, so donors know exactly who they are helping and how their donations will be used.

Over the years, with your help, we have worked to get a prosthetic foot for a man in Dartmouth. You helped a child in need of specialty medical equipment and therapy. The Fun 107 audience has helped SouthCoast families fleeing domestic violence situations. Fun 107 advertisers helped a family whose basement flooded after a pipe burst, and a grandmother raising her granddaughter who needed a new fridge to keep insulin cold.

Who Can You Nominate?

Only SouthCoast families are eligible for Holiday Wish Week. If you know a local family that could use some help this holiday season, whether they are a neighbor, a coworker, a classmate's family or a friend, we want to hear about them.

How to Nominate a Family

Submit your nomination on the United Way of Greater New Bedford website. Please fill out and return the form by October 31. After nominations close, our Holiday Wish Committee reviews every submission and selects five families to be supported on air. The United Way has been an invaluable partner, helping guide the process so donations are handled with care and fairness.

How the Community Helps

Support for Holiday Wish families comes from generous businesses across the SouthCoast, everyday families, and even kids. Some of the most memorable moments happen when children call in to donate their own allowance to help another child in need.

Holiday Wish Week is one of my very favorite things we do all year at Fun 107. It is the tremendous generosity of the SouthCoast on full display. So listen to The MGM Show the week of December 7, share this story, and nominate a family before October 31.
