Tiverton Sisters, 9 and 6, Launch Their Own Jewelry Business
At just nine and six years old, Tiverton, Rhode Island sisters Harper and Hallie are letting their talent and creativity shine by creating their own business, Harper & Hallie Sparkle Shop.
For these little entrepreneurs, the business came naturally. "They spend most of their time drawing, crafting, and listening to music," their mom, Amanda Banalewicz, said.
I spoke with Harper and Hallie's mom about her young girls' business venture, one that she and her family are quite proud of.
A Creative Outlet for a Big Tiverton Family
"My girls are the youngest of eight," Amanda Banalewicz said. "One of their favorite parts of jewelry-making is the one-on-one time we get to spend together. With such a big family, it can be difficult to always connect individually, so this time is incredibly special to all of us."

Harper and Hallie were inspired by their older siblings going to work. "They were eager to come up with ideas of how they could start working, too," Banalewicz said.

Turning Crafts Into a Small Business
Their love of art is now a profitable business, creating jewelry that they sell on their Facebook page.
"Each set of earrings takes about 10-15 minutes to make, with necklaces taking a bit longer," Banalewicz said. "There’s a lot of hand-eye coordination involved, and because they’re still so young, it takes patience and focus."
Not only are they handmade, they're quite unique. "We usually make only one or two of each earring design, which keeps each piece special," Banalewicz added.
A True Sister Team at Work,
"When they’re making jewelry, they become a true team," Banalewicz said. "Supporting one another, solving problems together, and taking pride in what they create."
The camaraderie and teamwork are things Harper and Hallie's parents never take for granted.
"Harper assembles the earrings, Hallie carefully packs them up, and I oversee everything to make sure it’s done correctly," Banalewicz said. "It’s truly a team effort and a wonderful bonding experience."
