The Providence Performing Arts Center plans to keep its doors closed until January of 2021 and they have the perfect show to kick off the reopening. This, after the news of Broadway in New York officially remaining closed through the end of this year.

Before I talk about the reopening, I along with many others are probably wondering what about those of us that had tickets for this season. The PPAC came up with a program for those existing season ticket holders that they called the "PPAC Promise To You," which is a pretty fair policy that includes refunds and credits.

Now that we got that out of the way, the exciting news is that the PPAC will be opening again in January of 2021 and already has the perfect show lined up with the opening of the national tour of The Prom.

The modified season is jam-packed with amazing performances including shows like Oklahoma, the farewell tour of Rent, My Fair Lady, and Mean Girls, along with so many others including my favorite, Jesus Christ Superstar. Can you tell I'm so looking forward to all of these shows?

You can check out the PPAC website for the full list of shows and events planned for 2021.

Also, the PPAC has already begun preparing the theater to provide a safe space for all of its patrons come January.

I imagine things will look a bit different when we do get back to the PPAC but nothing will take away the energy of live theater.
