It is hard to believe the year is almost over, and it's also hard to believe some of the losses we suffered this year.

Here are some of the great performers who left us is 2012.  On February 11th, the amazing voice of Whitney Houston was silenced forever.   The grammy-winning singer who gave us hits that include "The Greatest Love of All", "Saving All My Love For You", "I Will Always Love You", "How Will I Know", and so many more was only 48.

We also lost the queen of disco this year.  Boston native Donna Summer was 63.   If you've attended any weddings in the past 20 years, you've heard the song "At Last."  The beautiful voice behind that song was that of Etta James.   After years of stuggling with various addictions, Etta James died in January at age 73.

The lead singer of The Monkees, Davy Jones, died of a heart attack in February.   The powerhouse music and TV producer who was best known for "American Bandstand" and "New year's Rockin' Eve", also left us this year.   Industry icon Dick Clark was 82 when he died in April.   And the creator and host of TV's long-running "Soul Train" died in February.   Don Cornelius was 75.
