Four Reasons Taylor Swift Will Return to Gillette Stadium This Weekend
Hate it or love it, it's the romance that's dominated the headlines in 2023: Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce. Famous people date all the time, so what makes this relationship otherworldly?
Initially, I think the thing that set this relationship apart was Kelce's approach. The hulking NFL player laid it out there like he had a junior high crush. The only thing missing was asking Patrick Mahomes to pass a note to Taylor in social studies class. He made himself vulnerable -- showing up at her show, publicly asking her out on his podcast, shooting his shot (and initially failing) -- and people liked it, including Taylor.
By the end of September, Taylor had attended her first Chiefs game, and the NFL and Taylor fans loved it.
So, the question remains, will Taylor Swift be at the Chiefs game on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 17) when Kansas City plays the Patriots? It's a game that was initially supposed to be played in prime time, but the Patriots are fielding such a non-competitive team this season that Fairhaven High might give them a run for their money. So, for the first time in NFL history a team was flexed off of Monday Night Football. Would a Monday Night Football game have increased the chances of a Swift appearance?
Possibly, but there are still many reasons we might see her on Sunday.
Gillette Stadium
Taylor Swift loves Gillette Stadium. Back in 2010, it was the first big stadium she ever played. Since then, she has sold out 13 Gillette shows, including two unforgettable rainy, stormy nights. She even has a special name for Gillette.
Just Win, Baby
While opinions from Chiefs fans may be split, if they like winning they should love to see Swift and her security team whisking into the stadium. So far, the Chiefs are 4-2 when Taylor Swift is in attendance.
Weekend at the "Beach House"
Who doesn't enjoy a little weekend getaway at the beach house? Taylor's got her modest little home in Westerly, Rhode Island which will make it convenient for her to get to Foxboro. It's just a quick ride up I-95. There probably won't be enough time for romantic dinners at Watch Hill, though. An NFL player is kept pretty busy on a road trip between team meetings and dinners.
The Krafts
The Krafts adore Taylor Swift and the feeling is mutual. No doubt she'll receive the royal treatment on Route 1.
