Relive Fairhaven Football’s Unforgettable Season

The game plan has been set. The walk-through is over.  The buses are gassed up and ready to go.  The nearly two-week wait for Fairhaven's Super Bowl appearance is finally here. It's the Blue Devils' first Super Bowl appearance since 2000, which occurred after appearances in 1991 and 1994.

Coach Derek Almeida is hoping for as close to a "normal" day as possible on Nov. 30 leading up to game time.  They are looking for business as usual.  That's probably because business has been pretty good this season, most recently a heart-stopping win over Thanksgiving Day rival Dartmouth.

Football is a long season. It starts with wind sprints and water bottles to end hot summer nights in August. Those blistering-hot double sessions slowly morph into a battle for daylight, brisk winds and frigid temperatures. But there aren't many teams that are still playing football this close to December, and Fairhaven is one of them.

As we await the 3 p.m. kickoff on Thursday, we thought it would be fun to have a little football appetizer and remember some of the games that got the Blue Devils to where they are now.
