If you live in Swansea and came home to a note on your door, then chances are your residence is somewhat close to the construction being conducted along the public beach.

On Monday, April 8, I came home to a note taped to my front door. It was issued by the Swansea Water District in regards to a water service interruption. The note reads as follows:

"Please be advised that water services shall be interrupted on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 sometime between 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. (approximately) to allow for waterworks construction necessary to install a new water service for 458 Ocean Grove Avenue.

The work shall proceed in a manner to minimize the period in which the water shall be off.

Please take the appropriate actions necessary, including storing water, to offset any inconvenience this work may cause.

Thank you for your cooperation" -Swansea Water District

This brief water shutdown only affects local residents around the area of construction close by the Swansea public beach. There is no approximate time of when the water lines will be shut off, only sometime during an eight-hour window. At this time, the water, if any, will appear brown and possible murky.

Please prepare accordingly and refrain from consuming or using any water from your household pipes during this time until after 4 p.m., just to be cautious.

For any further information, please contact the Swansea Water District at (508) 672-9746.
