Swansea Driver Spots ‘Twerking Triceratops’ on Route 6
You never know what you’re going to see on the road these days.
On Tuesday afternoon, Kaitlyn Burns of Swansea was cruising down Route 6, headed to Alibi Sports Lounge – a bar she recently opened in January on Slades Ferry Avenue – when she found herself in a prehistoric traffic jam.
Right in front of her, strapped onto a trailer, was a massive animatronic dinosaur. This wasn’t just any old dinosaur, however; it was, as she put it, a “twerking triceratops.”
“From the way it was jiggling as it bumped along, it looked like a twerking triceratops,” Burns said.

As it turns out, this prehistoric party animal was on its way to Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, part of the highly-anticipated "Return of the Dinosaurs" exhibit.
Starting April 6 and running through August 10, the event will feature nearly 60 life-size animatronic dinosaurs, including 25 new additions. Visitors can expect towering brachiosaurs, sneaky velociraptors, and of course, a mighty T. Rex.

The zoo’s wetlands trail will serve as the backdrop for this immersive experience, which also includes interactive features like walking dinosaur rides, a fossil dig and a selfie station. Special events such as Dinosaur Family Nights and Sensory Mornings will also be available throughout the season.

While it’s unclear if the "twerking triceratops" will have a starring role in the exhibit, one thing is certain: it already turned plenty of heads on Route 6.
