SWANSEA (1420 WBSM) — A 17-year-old Swansea boy was killed in a single-car crash Friday night.

According to Swansea Police Chief Marc Haslam, officers responded to several 911 calls at about 11:20 p.m. on November 4 for a reported crash in the area of 171 Marvel Street.

He said that upon arrival, officers found a Ford Fusion that had left the road and struck both a fire hydrant and a utility pole.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as Ethan Kielec, 17, of Swansea. Police said a 17-year-old passenger was transported to an area hospital for treatment, but no details were given on the person’s condition.

Haslam said the crash remains under investigation.
