The Summer Solstice Is Today, But Where Is Summer?
At 11:45 a.m. today it became official; it's Summertime. If you've ever wondered what exactly summer solstice is, you're not alone.
I follow a Facebook group called Wicca Teachings. They always post postivie and interesting blogs and memes. The one they put up today caught my eye and here's what they say, "Today is the Summer Solstice also known as Litha. It is the longest day of the year, it won't get dark until very late into the night, there will be at least 16/17 hours of daylight. Litha means a stopping or standing still of the sun, in Latin Solstice means 'Sun Still' it is one of the 8 Pagan solar holidays throughout the year called a Sabbat. This may be the longest day of the year but after today the days will start to get shorter and nights longer."
Thankfully our weekend forecast here on the SouthCoast looks "summer-ish". Sunny and 70's for Saturday and warmer on Sunday with highs in the 80's. We'll take it.☀️🌙
