The pit bull-mix puppy that was found in Westport with a gunshot wound will not lose his leg. The people at Handsom Dan's Rescue for Pit Bulls in Cranston Rhode Island had feared that Liam (the temporary name given to the dog) would need the injured leg amputated. But yesterday vets at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists determined that the one year old dog has regained some feeling in that leg. Liam was then fitted with a cast. But the vet did say the dog will probably walk with a limp for life. He was rescued by the Westport Animal Control Oficer earlier this month after he was found in a garage with apparent bullet wounds to one of his legs. Liam is now up for adoption. Those interested can apply at Handsome Dan's Rescue in Cranston.
