New England Patriots defensive end Trey Flowers had the honor of releasing a harbor seal named after him back into the ocean.

The harbor seal was rescued in Rockaway, New York late last year and was being rehabilitated at the Mystic Aquarium's Animal Rescue Clinic.

The seal came to the facility at 30 lbs with injuries to his flippers, belly and neck. He left fully recovered and weighing 48 lbs.

Trey the seal was named after Flowers because the Aquarium wanted a creative way to honor the Patriots Super Bowl LI victory.

Trey, the football player, said he was honored and went out to Blue Shutter Beach in Charlestown to set Trey, the seal, free.
