I love going out driving at night with the kids and checking out people's Christmas lights. From a few small things in the yard to crazy synchronized to music displays, there is plenty to see and enjoy all around you.

But if you want to take the "driving around looking at lights" thing to a whole new level, then take the drive to the Amarante’s Winter Wonderland in Dayville, Connecticut.

This is one road trip-worthy Christmas display for sure. Because you don't just drive by and see what the Amarantes have going on; you can get out of your vehicle and walk through their Winter Wonderland.

Yes, it's like a theme park level-lights display, without the theme park ticket price. They just hope that you'll donate to Bags of Hope and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut while you are there.

For 13 years, Daniel Amarante has been growing his holiday light show and this year it includes 180,000 lights across his home and yard, plus 40 inflatables across the lawn.

And you can visit every night through New Year's Eve.

Amarante’s Winter Wonderland turns on the lights Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Plus on Sundays, they invite Santa down to meet with kids and have Keifer's Kettle Korn for sale every weekend.

They are not messing around.

See this seriously amazing Christmas light display for yourself this season. It is so worth the trek. And keep up on their winter happenings on the Amarante's Winter Wonderland Facebook page.
