NASCAR remains one of the most popular sports in America these days.

With an incredibly loyal fan base and nearly three million viewers per race, NASCAR often beats out other sports like hockey and baseball when it comes to television ratings.

Now local race watchers will have one of their own to cheer for on the track, when a Rhode Island driver makes his racing debut in Virginia this weekend.

Back in 2017, you might have seen Tyler Tomassi driving bandoleros at Seekonk Speedway.

Now the young driver from West Greenwich, Rhode Island is making his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at the Martinsville Speedway for the US Marine Corps 250 on Sunday.

Technically, Tomassi has driven in a NASCAR race before. He made his debut in NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series last July and driving in a second race in the series last September.

This time around Tomassi will be behind the wheel of a stock car once again, racing in NASCAR's second-tier circuit to the organization's top level Cup Series typically seen on TV.

Driving well here could get Tomassi noticed by owners of Cup Series teams and ultimately see him driving alongside Kyle Busch or Chase Elliot in a major race.

It's a big step for Tomassi, one he has been working towards for a very long time.

Incredible inspiration for other drivers at Seekonk Speedway to what could be in their future as well.

PICTURES: See Inside NASCAR's Most Expensive Mansions

The largest NASCAR driver home includes an indoor aquarium and more than 19,000 square feet of living on 415 acres. The No. 10 home on this list of the 10 most expensive is hardly a postage stamp by comparison.

Taste of Country recently compiled the priciest NASCAR driver homes, and while a few famous names make the list, a few not-quite-as-famous names do, too. Dale Jr., Denny Hamlin, Danica Patrick and the Busch brothers are a few of the drivers to look for on this list of mega-mansions. See pictures of all 10 and a full home tour of the No. 1 house.

Old-School NASCAR Car Logos That Are Still Cool Today

It's pretty common for NASCAR rides to switch designs week to week, but back in the '90s, when the cars had to be actually painted versus wrapped like today, rides stuck with designs for weeks at a time.

Some of these paint jobs never would see the light of day in today's world. Let's run down some some classic NASCAR sponsor paint jobs as well as some forgotten ones.
