‘Love Con Revenge’ Survivor Shares What Netflix Left Out
Bridget Phillips of Rhode Island was recently featured in the popular Netflix docuseries Love Con Revenge, and she tells us that the show only scratched the surface of what she experienced.
If you haven't watched this series yet, put it on your must-watch list. Phillips is one of the victims of Ricky Morrisey, a serial fraudster living not too far from us.
Here is the trailer to the series so you can get an idea of what it is about:
Who Is Ricky Morrisey?
In case you haven't watched the documentary, it centers around people who have been in romantic relationships and were conned out of money. It's called a romance scam and Phillips has a story that quite literally hits too close to home.
Phillips matched with Morrisey on a dating app; they met, fell in love, and rather quickly began living together in Phillips' modest home in Rhode Island. Over the course of their relationship, red flags started popping up and money began to come out of Phillips' account. You will have to watch the series for how this all transpired; it's nail-biting for sure.
The Sentencing and Charges
What was not included in the documentary, because it only happened on September 5, 2025, was that Morrisey was sentenced and charged with larceny, fraudulent use of a credit card, and accessing a computer for fraudulent purposes.
He was sentenced to a total of three years with only five months of which will be in a Rhode Island jail, his license suspended for the remainder of his sentence, and will also remain on probation. He must also pay restitution totaling $13,630 and attend substance abuse counseling.
If you ask me, or Phillips for that matter, this is a slap on the wrist for a man who has ruined the lives of many women and men.
What Bridget Phillips Lost
Phillips shared with us what these charges meant to her.
"His charges only related to him stealing my debit card tied to my dad’s estate and helping himself to over $13,000 from the estate," she said.
She also said not everything he stole from her had a monetary value.
"My dad had died of cancer and in addition, when my dad was dying, he had little gold coins that were passed down from family worth only a few hundred dollars, but my dad was trying to put one into a necklace before he passed as a way to remember him," she said. "He didn’t have a chance to finish the necklace and gave me the coin. Ricky stole the coin, claiming he was having the necklace made."
A Pattern of Lies and Scams
Morrisey's story and deceit have so many layers, going back to his own father passing away in 2023, and how his stepmom said his father was also a fraudster. Morrisey insisted that the insurance money from his father's life insurance policy belonged to him, and refused to claim his father's body from the morgue because his grandmother wouldn't give him the money.
Part of this horrible story involved a military veteran who was killed in action named Clarence. Morrisey claims he served with Clarence and that Clarence gave his life to save his Morrisey's, which, as you will come to find, is completely false and was a way for Morrisey to tug at heart strings to get money out of the many people he defrauded.

Why This Netflix Series Matters
Morrisey has conned other women and men into giving him money and it is Phillips' hope sharing her story will help others come forward, and Morrisey will feel the full wrath of his wrongdoing.
Currently, Morrisey is serving his time in a Rhode Island jail and will be out by early next year.
If you are looking for your next Netflix binge watch that will have your jaw on the floor, you should put this on your list. You feel for these people and hopefully we all can learn from watching this, so that something like this doesn't happen to you or a loved one.
