Recently, tourists and beach visitors have had quite the shock of an invasion of a red clawed creature who has made its way onto the shores of Southern California.

Thousands of tiny red crabs have made its way onto beaches around the San Diego and Newport Beach area.

Now, these beaches, which are typically covered in sand, are now covered in red.

The likely result of this bizarre occurrence comes from warmer than normal temperatures driving the creatures, also known as tuna crabs, away from their usual habitat in the waters off the coast of Mexico.

According to Scripps Media.com, these changes in temperature are connected possibly to a recent change in the weather pattern in the Pacific Ocean.
