RAYNHAM (WBSM) — Stop & Shop has announced which of its 32 stores its plans to close by the end of 2024, and eight Massachusetts locations are on the chopping block – including one store in Bristol County.

The Raynham store, located at 36 New State Highway (Route 44), is one of the stores set to close by November 2.

Stop & Shop currently has 397 stores across five states – Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey – with 125 of them in the Bay State. There are two stores in New Bedford, two in Fall River, and stores in Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Seekonk, Somerset and East Wareham.

Parent company Ahold Delhaize told investors in May that it planned to close underperforming locations.

“As we announced in May, Stop & Shop has evaluated its overall store portfolio and made the difficult decision to close underperforming stores to create a healthy base for the future growth of our brand,” Reid said.

Other Massachusetts stores set to close include locations in Brockton, Halifax, Shrewsbury, Newton, Springfield, Worcester and Pembroke. Rhode Island stores in Johnston and the Pittman Street location in Providence will also close.

“Our associates are a strong community dedicated to growing and working together, and all of our store associates will continue to have a place in the Stop & Shop family as we look forward to serving customers at other nearby locations,” Reid said.
