Free Star Wars & Cosplay Expo Coming to Providence

Forget traveling to a galaxy far, far away — Amazing Art Expo is bringing a free Star Wars event right to Providence for free.

Yes, there is no need to haggle with Jabba the Hutt, because this three-day cosplay expo coming to the Hilton Providence Downtown Hotel is free for sci-fi fans of all ages.

From August 29 - 31, this downtown hotel located next door to the Amica Mutual Pavilion will be filled with characters and creations from iconic sci-fi franchises like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and more.

It might sound too good to be true, considering the cost of everything these days, but this expo is absolutely free and all about the art.

Star Wars, Anime and More Fan Favorites

If you love the look of graphic novels, anime and even video games, then this is an event for you.

For three days the Hilton Downtown Providence Hotel will be filled with artwork and the artists who created them, featuring dozens on sci-fi favorites. A perfect place to find a unique piece for your own home or maybe a one-of-a-kind gift for someone else.

You can even have artists add embellishments to pieces you purchase that make them completely your own.

Cosplay Contest Details and Prizes

In addition to the beautiful displays of art, on Saturday the event will also include a cosplay contest. People are encouraged to dress as monsters, witches, Jedi, superheroes and more with the audience voting for a favorites.

Prizes will be given out for this contest, so get a great costume together to get involved.

The event is a free one, so expect large crowds throughout the weekend.

The Free Pop Culture Art & Cosplay Expo happens Friday August 29 from 6-9 PM and Saturday and Sunday 12-6 PM at the Hilton Downtown Providence Hotel.

Though the event is free, you do need to register for the event and you can also purchase VIP tickets to access the event one hour early each day, as well as skip lines to meet the voice actors attending.

Parking is also likely to be an expense, with the hotel itself charging $15 to park and the nearby Rhode Island Convention Center lot charging per hour.
