Plymouth First Responders Pull Man to Safety After Vehicle Crash
PLYMOUTH (WBSM) — A single-vehicle crash in Plymouth Sunday night caused serious injuries to both the driver of the vehicle and his passenger.
Plymouth Fire Chief Neil Foley said the department responded to a single-vehicle crash on the night of September 29 off Route 3 and had to extricate a man from a vehicle that had crashed into the woods after going off the southbound lanes.
Plymouth Police also responded to the scene to assist.
“The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, was heavily entrapped and had to be freed by firefighters using hydraulic extrication tools,” Foley said. “The effort took about 20 minutes.”
The passenger, also an adult male, was treated at the scene by firefighters. Foley said both men sustained serious injuries.
The driver was taken by ambulance to a landing zone at Elmer E. Raymond Jr. Memorial Park on Long Pond Road, where Boston MedFlight then flew him to a Rhode Island trauma center.
The passenger was transported by ambulance to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.
Foley did not provide a cause for the crash, but said it remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police.
