One of the most popular shows on Prime Video is filming a spinoff in Plymouth this week, causing temporary traffic restrictions throughout downtown.

While finding parking in Plymouth can be tricky on a good day, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026—it's going to get truly difficult. That's because the feature-length movie sequel to The Summer I Turned Pretty will be filming scenes along the waterfront throughout the day.

Why Fans Are Flocking to Plymouth

Fans of the series are bound to be excited for the arrival of stars like Lola Tung, Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno in town—despite the travel issues.

The hit series, based on Jenny Han's trilogy of books, aired its final episode last September, but fans will get the chance to return to Cousins Beach in 2027 when the feature film conclusion premieres on Prime Video.

Though the books take place in the fictional Massachusetts town of Cousins Beach, the series filmed primarily in Wilmington, NC. Much of the movie has filmed there as well, but now crews are actually heading to the Bay State for a single day of shooting.

When and Where Filming Will Impact Traffic

From 12 p.m. through 11 p.m. production will be underway at several spots along the waterfront. Daytime filming will use Main Street and Court Street, while nighttime filming will move to Leyden Street.

For all filming the Plymouth Police Department will have officers on hand managing traffic flow and minimizing disruptions. Fans seem to know when and where their favorite stars will be at this point, with production crews taking to social media to ask crowds to steer clear of the film sets.

Drivers may want to steer clear of certain areas as well.

Road Closures and Parking Restrictions to Know

A press release from the city says to expect road closures and parking restrictions throughout filming hours from 55 Court Street to Brewster Street, 16 Court Street to Russell Street, 10 North Street to Main Street and several spaces north and south of Leyden Street. Leyden Street will be completely blocked to traffic from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m. on June 16.

Traffic restrictions relate to the roadways only, with town officials stressing that pedestrian access to homes and businesses will remain open.

Though exact filming locations were not revealed in the press release, the Plymouth Center for the Arts has let members and visitors know to expect filming outside their galleries at 11 North Street.
