BROCKTON (WBSM) — Human remains found along Route 3 in Plymouth just over a year ago have now been identified as those of a missing Hanson woman who was last seen in 2019.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Hanson Police Chief Michael Casey announced today that the human remains found by a hunter on March 6, 2025, have now been identified as those of Sandra Crispo, who was last seen on August 7, 2019.

How the Remains Were Discovered Along Route 3

The hunter discovered the remains along a deer trail near the breakdown lane between Exits 13 and 14 on Route 3 North in Plymouth. Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene and found a portion of a human skull. The remains were sent to the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification.

DNA Testing Leads to Identification of Sandra Crispo

The D.A.’s Office then reached out to the FBI for further testing on the skull, and there was a CODIS match to Crispo’s DNA in one of the FBI’s forensic databases.

Details Surrounding Crispo’s 2019 Disappearance

Crispo was 54 years old at the time of her disappearance, and she lived at 47 Spofford Avenue in Hanson. She was reported missing to Hanson Police on August 9, 2019, by family members who had been unable to reach her.

Family Suspicions and Ongoing Investigation

Her daughter, Laina McMahon, told Boston 25 in November 2024 that she suspected foul play in her mother’s disappearance, and that it could have been a family member due to an inheritance dispute. She said her father had died two years prior to Crispo’s disappearance and “left behind a substantial estate which included up to a million dollars in gold bars,” according to Boston 25.

The investigation into Crispo’s disappearance and death is active and ongoing. Anyone with information should contact Hanson Police at (781) 293-4625, or Massachusetts State Police assigned to the D.A.’s Office at (508) 894-2600.
