Plymouth Server Buys Meals for 40 Veterans and Will Do It Again Saturday
PLYMOUTH (WBSM) — Plymouth’s most generous server set a new record for meals purchased for veterans this past Monday, and he’s not waiting until Veterans Day next year to try to top it.
Corey Dries, a server at Ocho’s Cafe at Colony Place in Plymouth, is “running it back” this Saturday, he said, once again offering to pay for the entree of any veteran who sits in his section during his shift.
The offer will be available from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the veteran will be required to show their military ID in order to get the free meal. Dries is also requesting no repeats from Monday; he wants this to be an opportunity for the veterans who couldn’t make it over on Veterans Day.
Dries said he ended up purchasing meals for over 40 veterans on Monday, but more importantly, he got to spend time and connect with each of them.
“We got told many great stories from several of the veterans that came in,” he said. “It was inspiring to meet them.”
Dries and his girlfriend Bridgette created a table specifically to honor fallen soldiers.
“We had many tables who were and weren’t vets stop by that table to say a couple of words and pray for the fallen soldiers,” he said.
His girlfriend’s sister Bonnie Mangini created balloon decorations, and Dries got flowers from Firehouse Flowers & Event Design in Plymouth to complete the decor.
