
Cape Cod Central Railroad Celebrates Heroes Ahead of America 250
As the summer approaches, so does one of the biggest celebrations in the country: America 250. While the official anniversary isn't until July, of course, many businesses, organizations and communities are leaning into the anniversary a little early. Cape Cod Central Railroad is one of them.
Cape Cod Railroad Kicks Off America 250 Celebrations
On Thursday, June 4, 2026, a group of America's finest boarded the train for what the Cape Cod Central Railroad called "one of our favorite special events."

"Heroes from the Wounded Warrior Project joined us along with 135 from the Cape Cod Veterans Center, and several local first responders," the railroad shared.
Veterans and First Responders Treated to Special Dinner Train
The sunset ride also included a complimentary meal for the honored guests. "We here at Cape Cod Central Railroad are all truly grateful for their service and the sacrifices that they have made for our country," the railroad said.
A small token of appreciation for the brave men and women. However, that wasn't the only token of gratitude they received.

The Cape Cod Central Railroad also presented its passengers with custom challenge coins, a long-standing tradition in the military typically gifted for recognizing hard work and camaraderie.

The Meaning Behind the Custom Challenge Coins
The commemorative coin features the Cape Cod Central Railroad logo on one side and either the state of Massachusetts or the Wounded Warrior logo on the other.


A Lasting Thank You for Those Who Served
"When they look at them, we hope they will be reminded of special memories from their dinner train tonight, and know that we here at Cape Cod Central Railroad are all truly grateful for their service and the sacrifices that they have made for our country," the railroad shared.
