Fall River Artist Honors Veterans With Emotional New Exhibit
Fall River artist Brian Fox is no stranger to capturing someone's essence through his artwork.
Time and again, this local talent continues to wow audiences with his sketches and paintings.
Best known for his work with famous faces like Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Fox has pivoted from celebs to war heroes for his latest collection.

How a Vietnam Memorial Sparked a New Direction
"It's definitely a departure for what I normally have done," Fox said. His inspiration began six years ago when he was asked to help create a Vietnam memorial in Fall River.

The Veterans Who Inspired Brian Fox
It was then that he had the honor of speaking with some local veterans.
"They impacted me and I figured, I wanted to do more to help them out and shine a spotlight on the veterans and how these guys are still suffering. That was the whole reason for doing the show," Fox said.
His show "In the Valley of the Shadow: The Cost of Walking with Death" can be seen at The Narrows beginning this month.
Behind the Art: Stories That Shaped the Collection
In speaking with more veterans, Fox thought, "What is the cost of war to individuals, to people?"
"There's certainly PTSD, there's death, there's all sorts of costs that we don't see," he said. "And when these guys return from combat, we don't see these things going on, but yet they are and they'll never go away."
Fox drew from veterans' stories and his own curiosity to create the collection which ranges in subject from K9s to combat, Agent Orange and more.
"Some of the paintings are over seven feet wide and you can't not see them," he said. "But then there are the descriptions on the sides of the paintings which tell the backstory of whatever is happening in the painting."
