Pet of the Week: Katie

Meet Katie, a sweet Beagle Terrier mix who's looking for her fur-ever home!

Katie has had a long and trying road. She's been through tough times, and through it all her personality is best described as "sweet". Katie came into the shelter as a stray dog. She was, as it turns out, also pregnant. Soon after she had two premature puppies and she set upon caring for them. Unfortunately, it turns out that Katie is diabetic... an easy enough condition to treat and manage- however, being a stray, no one knew this. The issue was made worse since so many of the warning signs of diabetes were easily explained away as pregnancy-related. Katie crashed and crashed hard. Thankfully, the vet was able to get her back up and running on an easy regiment that keeps her healthy. Katie has never stopped loving people and other dogs. She loves car rides, hates walking on a leash, and is quiet and sensitive. It is hard to imagine what Katie has had to go through- what's even harder is imagining how loving and gentle she still is. She's currently in a foster home where she's getting equal parts spoiled and readjusted to home life.
