Happy Wet Nose Wednesday!

It's the day we get to feature amazing animals up for adoption on the SouthCoast.

So many local shelters are giving these animals a fighting chance and we get to share their stories.

We head to Fall River this week to meet a loving lab with limitless energy.

Meet Sunshine.

It's the perfect name for a summertime companion who can help keep an active family going all year 'round.

Sunshine is a 40-pound, 8-month-old lab mix with "boundless, limitless puppy energy."

Currently calling Forever Paws Animal Shelter in Fall River home, Sunshine would love to find an active family with other dogs that can match (or tolerate) his puppy energy.

The shelter reminds would-be adopters that "Sunshine is a puppy. He is high energy. He is goofy. He will chew things and get into mischief. He will require work and training to grow into the best dog that he can be."

The shelter also says Sunshine can be a playful addition to the family, noting he is quite social and has no issues meeting strangers.

Forever Paws asks that any children in Sunshine's new home be at least 10 years old, since he can be a little "mouthy (playfully!) and slappy."

Sunshine could do well in a home with cats, though he would need to be "given the proper time to adjust/figure out what exactly cats are because right now he doesn't seem to understand their warnings as warnings."

Does Sunshine sound like a good fit for you and your family? Contact Forever Paws Animal Shelter online, fill out an application and schedule a play date today.

Sunshine cannot wait to meet you.

10 Things to Do for Your Dog if They're Scared By Fireworks

My two big German Shepherds just hated the Fourth of July. My girl Bella used to run into the bathroom, push the shower curtain aside, and lay down in the tub. My sweet guy Zeus who weighed about 100 pounds would try to get in my lap every time I sat down, or would try to hide in the space between the toilet and the tub!

The dog who likes fireworks probably is a good hunting dog too. But, not mine, and not a lot of other dogs on the Fourth of July. But there are things you can do to help your furry kid get through fireworks season without going totally insane.

The American Kennel Club has all kinds of advice on how to get your pooch through the entire summer in good shape. But for the Independence Day holiday, they have 10 tips on how to keep your dog calm.
