Chunky New Bedford Dog Needs Extra Love from Forever Family

Meet Jimmy Buffet. Jimmy is an 8-year-old mixed breed residing at Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford. He's fairly new to the shelter, but so far, he's a loveable, content and happy boy.

Jimmy loves playing outside with his shelter bestie named Beachy, but the truth is, Jimmy is a little overweight.

"As you can tell from his photos, he is currently overweight, but we are working on getting his weight down to a healthy size," the shelter said.

Note the spelling of "Buffet." An extra "T" would spell the last name of the late singer, but the spelling as it is refers to all-you-can-eat food. It's likely this is no accident in Jimmy's case.

"Even though he’s got some extra chonk, he actually gets around quite well, and runs and hops around the yard easily when playing."

Jimmy does well in his kennel area and is very well-behaved in his crate. He's easy to love, but his forever family will need to assist him on his weight loss journey to ensure this good boy lives a long, healthy life.
