Pawtucket’s New Jewish Deli Temporarily Closing Due To ‘Overwhelming’ Opening
After being open for about a week, Pawtucket's new authentic Jewish delicatessen is shutting down to catch their breath.
Maven's Delicatessen has been the big restaurant buzz in Rhode Island for months. People were definitely anticipating their early December opening and were eager to stop in and try the delicious homemade foods.
Perhaps they were a little too eager.
After being open about a week, Maven's announced on social media that they would be closing their doors for several days "due to overwhelming response and high demand."
Day after day, restaurant owner Jason Sugarman was posting about nearly selling out of inventory.
As a brand new business this sounds like it would be amazing news, but it seems the reality was too good to be true.
Sugarman took to Maven's socials on Sunday to tell their new customers that they would be taking a break. He added that during this short break they would "be working tirelessly behind the scenes to make some necessary improvements and adjustments to enhance your future dining experiences."
I'm sure for many Jewish families celebrating Hanukkah right now, this isn't the best of holiday news, but Sugarman felt the break was necessary to keep things running smoothly for years to come.
Maven's will remain closed from Sunday December 10th through Tuesday December 12th and the current plan is to reopen their doors (more prepared than ever) on Wednesday December 13th.
