ATTLEBORO (WBSM) — A Rhode Island man has passed away from injuries sustained in a crash on Interstate 95 in North Attleboro earlier this month.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced that Julio Flores, 48, of Pawtucket passed away on the evening of May 11 as a result of injuries sustained in the May 5 crash.

The crash involved a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta and a 2005 Freightliner M2 crash truck. It occurred on I-95 South at mile marker 8 at about 11:58 p.m. Police arrived to find the Jetta, which had four occupants, wedged between the guardrail on the left side of the highway along with the Freightliner. Flores, the truck driver, had exited the vehicle and was located a short distance from the crash scene with life-threatening injuries.

Flores was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and pronounced deceased on Monday evening.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
