Providence Woman Arrested For Stealing A Dump Truck In Pawtucket
The North Providence Police Department had their hands full on Wednesday when they were forced to chase down a stolen dump truck from a Pawtucket worksite.
According to Pawtucket police, 36-year-old Tasha Hayes of North Providence drove off with an oversized industrial dump truck from a job site at the intersection of Mineral Spring Avenue and San Antonio Way.

After following the stolen dump truck to Church Street and Park Place, an officer jumped into the cab of the vehicle and managed to take over.
A seemingly dangerous move by the officer, but luckily, no injuries were reported.
WJAR observed the dump truck on George Street, and from the looks of it, the dump truck is a serious piece of equipment that Hayes managed to operate for roughly one mile down a busy street in Pawtucket.
Hayes has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, and disorderly conduct.
My question is why?
Hayes’ motives are unclear at this point, but why go through all that trouble to try and steal a dump truck?
The typical carjacking involves a desirable vehicle worth some serious cash. You don’t hear dump-truck-jacking very often.
An investigation is still underway to determine the motive behind the theft and to identify any potential accomplices.
ABC 6 confirmed Hayes was arraigned on Thursday and was given a $10,000 bail. She is due back in court on December 21st.
