Carousels in the area seem to be making a comeback, as yet another legendary carousel is set to be revived in Newport.

Many want to preserve the nostalgia of carousel rides. We've seen that with the revival of the Fall River Carousel over the last year or so.

Age and Condition of the Horses

The carousel has been dismantled and sitting for a few years now. Rumor has it, though, that there has been private investment made to restore and reinstate the Newport Carousel. A location for it has yet to be determined.

Age and Condition of the Horses

For reference, the horses are over 73 years old but still have plenty of life in them when they're all cleaned up and installed. We look forward to being able to get an in person look once the time comes.

What Officials Are Saying

We reached out to the City of Newport to see if we could get any definitive information on what's happening.

"At this time, we don’t have any news to share on a future location of the carousel, however we have received some initial inquiries from local community partners who have expressed an interest in being a part of the carousel’s next chapter," said Tom Shevlin, Director of Communications for the City of Newport,

We will keep an eye on where the City of Newport decides to place it.
