Why Fall 2025 Could Be the Best Lead Peeping Season Yet
As the Old Farmer's Almanac predicted months ago, the Northeast has had a pretty hot summer. In fact, many New England states kicked things off with their hottest June days on record in summer 2025.
Since then stretches of hot, humid weather have been the staple of the season, so when do we finally get a break?
Lots of long-range predictions say temperatures could remain above average into the fall months, but this could actually be very good news for one beloved activity.
It's always surprising to me how accurate long-range predictions turn out to be. Snowstorms called for months in advance that really happen, rainfall averages that hit the mark weeks before a single drop falls and warm streaks that come to town exactly when experts say they will.

Currently calling for a degree or two cooler than average temperatures might not seem like much, but paired with the significantly drier weather predicted this fall it is very good news indeed.
Why Drier Weather is Good News For New England Tourism
Below average rainfall and a slight drop in temperatures should lead to a gorgeous fall foliage season across our area.
That means leaf peeping everywhere from local parks to long farmland backroads will be brilliant on the SouthCoast.
When To Plan Your Leaf-Peeping Trip
Personally I've noticed leaves already starting to change color a little bit, but of course peak fall foliage is still weeks away. Though some New England states might start to see real fall colors by late September, peak leaf peeping days are expected around October 11 this year.
