Jennifer Garner’s New Elin Hilderbrand Series to Film on Nantucket This Fall

The beaches of Nantucket may still be packed with tourists right now, but this fall they will be packed with film crews instead.

Seems like author Elin Hilderbrand learned a thing or two about filming on the Massachusetts shoreline when her novel "The Perfect Couple" shot on the Cape in the spring of 2023.

Now that another of her works, "The Five-Star Weekend" is getting its own small screen adaption, production crews are looking to avoid tourist season altogether.

Like "The Perfect Couple", "The Five Star Weekend" is set on Nantucket. But unlike the first series, this new one will actually be filmed on the island.

It was back in January when we first learned that "The Five Star Weekend" was becoming a TV mini series for Peacock and that Jennifer Garner was taking the starring role.

Now we've learned a lot more about when and where this new series will start filming.

When Will Jennifer Garner's New Series Start Filming?

According to the Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror, the town select board recently granted permits to Universal Studios for filming from September 10 - October 2.

The studio representatives were very specific about where they wanted to shoot scenes for the show about a food influencer, played by Garner, who decides to host a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life.

Locations requested include the Nantucket Memorial Airport, The Chicken Box, Bartlett's Farm, the Summer House Cottages and even Stop & Shop.

Universal representatives also asked for permission to obtain noise and light bylaw waivers, close roads and access town-owned property too.

They plan to shoot several scenes on the island in early fall, then match those scenes with the more significant portion of filming that is taking place on a sound stage in Los Angeles. Crews there have built intricate replica homes from Nantucket and Wellesley to give the series a seamless feel.

We'll have to wait until spring or summer 2026 to see if they actually achieve that feel.

For now expect famous faces like Garner, Regina Hall, Chloe Sevigny, Judy Greer, Timothy Olyphant, Gemma Chan, Rob Huebel, D'Arcy Carden, Harlow Jane, David Denman, Josh Hamilton, West Duchovny and Tory Devon Smith on Nantucket this fall.
