New Bedford Police Cruiser Takes 1st Place at Car Show in Support of Tommy’s Place
The New Bedford Police Department took home a shiny, gold trophy on Sunday at the “Cops and Cars” car show held at Falmouth High School for their eye-catching awareness cruiser, and it was all to support a heartwarming cause that is familiar to Massachusetts residents.
The Cops and Cars Car Show
In its third year, the Cops and Cars Car Show hosted its annual Touch-A-Truck event as friends and families gathered at Falmouth High School to check out police and first responder equipment, K-9 demonstrations, food trucks, and more.

All of the proceeds went to Tommy’s Place, a special kind of vacation home that is dedicated to children battling cancer and their families. Its founder, Tim O’Connell, was inspired to lend his Martha’s Vineyard home to children battling cancer back in 2007, and since then, he has added another property and has given countless families a chance to step away from the hospital and into a carefree weekend.
New Bedford PD Awareness Cruiser Wins Trophy
On Sunday, New Bedford PD took part in the heartfelt car show and drove up in style with their awareness cruiser dedicated to suicide awareness. The Suicide Awareness patrol car was unveiled in April alongside the Autism Awareness patrol car.
Both cars show off flashy wraps with powerful meanings, but The Suicide Awareness car was enough to secure first place at the Car Show last weekend.
“Massachusetts State Police won last year, and this trooper graciously handed over the prize,” said NBPD as a member of the force accepted the honor.
Way to go NBPD!
