My Guilty Pleasure TV Show: Total Divas

This is a TV show that I thought for sure, I would absolutely hate, but...I was wrong!

I've been a wrestling fan almost my entire life. I started watching it back in the early 90's when it was still WWF. I watched with my Dad and my brother, who eventually became disinterested in wrestling all together, but not me. I was still a fan, I'd still watch Monday Night RAW every week. I knew it was 'Sports Entertainment' and people weren't really getting the ever-living stuff beat out of them. I mean, yes, they could still get hurt, but I knew the outcomes were staged, and the promos were all acting. I knew all that, yet still enjoyed it.

Honestly the only thing I didn't like about WWE as time went on and I got older, was the way women were portrayed in the industry. I loved it back in the 80's and 90's when the likes of Luna Vachon, Alundra Blayze and Molly Holly were wrestling. They were great wrestlers!! They weren't just escorting the men to the ring, but they were actually wrestling, and they were great at what they did!  Then came the 'Diva Era'...where looks became more important than talent in the ring.

So I thought for sure when the Divas of WWE were starring in a show called 'Total Divas', it would not be the kind of show I'd like...and I was so wrong!

Saturday night, I was sitting on my couch by myself watching TV. My husband was out and I was looking for something to watch. I was scrolling through the WWE Network, and I saw this 'Total Divas' show. For some reason, it caught my attention. I read the caption on what the show was about and decided to give it a shot.

One episode turned into two, two into three and before I knew it, I had binged watched the entire first season of Total Divas!! At that point, my husband had come home and reluctantly joined my binge watching. He wanted to watch 'Godzilla', but I was so into this show, I couldn't turn it off!

My favorite Diva quickly became Natalya. She's the niece of my idol, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart and daughter of Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart, and I just loved her.  She had a very genuine personality and that was what I loved most about her.  She talked about her struggles getting into the wrestling business even though she came from a wrestling family. I also really liked the Bella Twins, Brie and Nikki. I found myself relating more to Brie, so she quickly became a favorite. I love that the show gives viewers like me a sneak peek into the girls' personal lives and behind the scenes in the world of WWE.

I loved the show so much, I wanted to binge watch Season 2 as well! I didn't have time unfortunately...but maybe this week I will! Season 3 starts this coming Sunday on the E! Network and I can't wait to watch it! Looks like I have from now until Sunday to watch all of Season 2 to catch up! I'm looking forward to it!
