Massachusetts and Rhode Island Airfare Is Cheaper Than Most States
Are you just dying to take that vacation, but struggle to justify the cost of airfare, hotels, restaurant food, and all the other things that make travel so expensive these days?
There are ways to travel if you are willing to shop around for the best airfares, hotel rate specials, and eat meals that fit your budget. You can save money if you are flexible and willing to travel off-season. Also, planning allows you time to save up for your trip.
Tips for Travelers Looking to Save Money
If funds are tight, don't book a trip to a Disney theme park, as your money will go a lot further at a National Park.
You can generally book a hotel room by paying the first night upfront and the balance at checkout. That's a big help. Some websites offer deals on rates.

The killer is airfare. That is due upfront and may require some time to save up for.
There is some good news: airfare from Massachusetts and Rhode Island is more affordable than in most states.
Logan Prices Drop
Business Traveler reported Massachusetts is "a state that proves affordability isn't just about the sticker price."
"While its average fares place it ninth on the cost list, strong local wages push it to third in affordability," according to Business Traveler.
The average domestic flight from Boston Logan International Airport is $369.14, down from $416.25 the year before.
The publication stated, "In 2025, a ticket cost the equivalent of 9.24 hours of work, down from 10.90 the year before. That's a nearly two-hour 'raise' for frequent flyers, achieved not through discounts but through wage strength."
Prices Drop at T.F. Green, Too
Not to be outdone, Rhode Island's T.F. Green International Airport has the fifth-cheapest domestic flights, averaging $342,28, down from $398.09 the year before.
The deciding factor between booking Logan or Green often comes down to flight times and the availability of non-stop flights.

Grandpa Prescott had a saying, "You never see the Brinks truck following the hearse." Translation: "You can't take it with you." Save the money and take a vacation. You deserve it.
