Have you been to Blue Point Restaurant lately? The new owners, husband-wife team Juan Gomez and Natasha Silva, are keeping the well-known menu and cozy feeling that the original owners cultivated for so many years, but they've also added a specials menu to incorporate a few new items.

"This place reminds me of my grandmother's house, and we want to keep it that way, with a few updates," said Natasha.

I recently chatted with them about their plans for the restaurant — and of course, I had some delicious food, too. You absolutely have to try the fish tacos, Calamari Mozambique, and the chicken parm.

The staff is warm, and the food is delicious. Their New England Clam Chowder would give contestants a run for their money if they were to enter the New Bedford Chowderfest! Everything is homemade, right down to the tartar sauce, and that will not change.

In fact, the original owner, Dave Riccardi, still works in the kitchen, prepping every morning. Both Juan and Natasha have been going to Blue Point Restaurant since they were kids; in fact, Dave taught Juan how to cook when Juan was just 17 years old. His career took him to other jobs, but he stayed in touch with Dave and his wife, Lisa, over the years.

When Dave and Lisa were ready to retire, they wanted to pass the restaurant and brand they spent 34 years building to people who would care for it as much as they did, so Lisa approached Juan and Natasha while they were having a date night at Blue Point Restaurant. It all just took off from there.

They share all their specials and tantalizing food photos on Facebook, so be sure to follow them at facebook.com/Dr622021. For take-out, call 508-995-9600, and for reservations, call 774-392-6611.
