One person is dead and a dozen others were sickened from listeria linked to bagged salad packaged by the Dole processing facility in Springfield, Ohio.

Six states have already reported the illness, including Massachusetts where one person has been hospitalized.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that the infected salad has spread to Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Twelve people have been hospitalized and one person in Michigan has died as a result of the listeriosis.

The Dole salad that the listeria has been linked to is sold under several names. Dole, Fresh Selections, Simple Truth, Marketside, The Little Salad Bar and President's Choice are all potentially infected.

Any infected bag would have a manufacturing code on the package that starts with the letter "A" and the CDC says customers should not eat those bags.

Dole has stopped all production at the Ohio facility as of Thursday and the CDC said there was no evidence to suggest that packaged salads produced at other Dole processing facilities in the United States were linked to the illness.
