Wally’s Wieners in Newport, Rhode Island is doing something right. At the beginning of 2024, the restaurant went viral for its over-the-top giant espresso martini. Over the summer, locals were buzzing after Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood stopped by unannounced.

Now, it’s Jay Leno’s turn to stop in for some food and turn some heads.

“Lucky enough to have Jay Leno stop by for breakfast this morning,” said Wally’s online. Leno’s order was kept under wraps but the star was kind enough to pose for a picture outside the restaurant while patrons inside happily photobombed.

Jay Leno and His Love for Newport

Residents of Newport have fully welcomed Leno as a “local.” Leno’s story of becoming a Newport homeowner is as unique as it gets.

In 2017, while enjoying a cruise down Ocean Avenue, Leno’s wife, Mavis, spotted the Seafair, a sprawling estate of marble and elegance.

Leno turned the car around, got the owner on the phone, and bought the house as-is.

That is what you call a major flex.

Why was Jay Leno in Rhode Island?

Leno’s recent stop at Wally’s Wieners was most likely a result of his performance at Bally’s Twin River Casino in Lincoln the night before. Lincoln is a short drive from Newport, so Leno likely lived like a local for the weekend in his $17.5 million home.

Famous celebs and Wally’s Wieners are starting to become synonymous. Next time you take a trip to Newport, add the popular restaurant to your to-do list.
