We had a special visitor from Nashville this morning on The MGM Show. Haven Madison, a 19-year-old singer and songwriter from Tennessee, flew into Boston and drove down to Fairhaven to perform live on Fun 107.

We’ve been playing her heartfelt debut single "Castle" since Memorial Day weekend, and we loved hearing her deliver an acoustic version in studio.

Haven’s American Idol Journey

Haven first caught the nation’s attention two years ago on American Idol, where she performed her original song "15" during her audition.

The emotional track reflected on being told at age 15 that she had plenty of time to wait. “But what if I want it NOW?” she pleaded in the song.

Her performance drew an electrifying response from the judges. Katy Perry shouted, “You can have it!” Perry was quickly echoed by Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, and Haven was on her way to Hollywood.

While Hawaiian singer Iam Tongi ultimately won Season 21, Haven made a lasting impression and caught the attention of record label executives at 19 Recordings/BMG.

Music and Personality Shine

In the Fun 107 studio, Haven warmed up with her song "Shape Shifter." During her interview, she shared that she has surprisingly never been asked out on a date.

“No one has EVER asked me out to dinner,” Haven admitted with a laugh. She added that she likes tall brunettes.

Before performing "Castle," she explained that the song was about a fictitious guy she hasn’t met yet. She also made it clear that any guy she dates should expect to end up in her music, for better or worse.

As I told her, “That formula worked pretty well for another girl I know who lives in Nashville.”
