A Hammerhead shark was spotted off of Edgartown Beach this week.

The Capecodtimes has given us an update on a shark that headed towards Edgartown. It wasn't just any shark though, it was a hammerhead shark!

Lifeguards at South Beach on the Vineyard called swimmers out of the water last week as a precaution.

A bi-plane confirmed the sighting of the shark. The hammerhead is said to be 7 to 8 feet long. An hour after the bi-plane spotted the shark, swimmers were let back into the water. The pilot in the plane watched the shark swim east out to the sea, so beachgoers in Edgartown are safe...for the moment.
