Fall River Has New ‘Powerball’ Millionaire

Valentine's Day was very lucky for a Fall River man. Rui Amaral won a cool $1 million in the Feb. 14 Powerball drawing.

According to masslottery.com, Amaral won the second-tier prize of $1,000,004 with the cash option. That winning ticket was sold at Cumberland Farms on North Main Street in Fall River. The store receives a bonus of $10,000 for selling the ticket.

Also this month, a Cape Cod woman was a big winner with the Mass Lottery's $2,000,000 50X Cashword game. June Pye of West Barnstable is the 10th and final winner of $2,000,000. She chose the cash option and took home $1,300,000. Pye told the lottery office that she will use the money to invest in her retirement and to start a college fund for her granddaughter.
