Fall River Families Celebrate 10 Years of Free Backpacks and Haircuts
For the past 10 years, Shear Genius Barber Shop, Ms. Shear Genius Salon and Juiced Café have teamed up to give local kids a confident start to the school year.
That tradition continues on Sunday, August 24 when the community will gather at 1475 Plymouth Avenue in Fall River for the 10th Annual Back2School Backpack Giveaway.
Backpacks and Supplies for Students
This year, hundreds of children will once again receive free backpacks packed with essential school supplies. Families are encouraged to arrive early, as everything is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The goal is to relieve some of the financial pressure of back-to-school shopping and ensure that every student heads into the classroom ready to succeed.
Free Haircuts Before the First Day
One of the highlights of the event is the free haircuts offered to kids by local barbers and stylists. By volunteering their time and talent, these professionals help students feel confident and fresh for the first day of school. Haircuts will be available throughout the morning.

A Community Celebration
While the backpacks and haircuts are the main draw, the event also brings the community together with food, music and family-friendly fun. The celebration kicks off at 9 a.m., a tradition that families look forward to year after year.
A Decade of Giving Back
Hosted by Shear Genius Barber Shop, Ms. Shear Genius Salon, and Juiced Café, with support from City of Refuge, True Dental, and funfotos2go, this event has become a cornerstone of generosity in Fall River.
Now celebrating its 10th year, this Fall River crew is proof of what happens when local businesses and volunteers join forces to make a difference.
