Fall River Announces Annual ‘Kick-Off to Summer’ Block Party
The City of Fall River has announced that the annual Kick-Off to Summer Block Party is adapting in 2021, combining with the Drive-In Movie Series for one grand event. On Saturday, June 19, the City of Fall River will continue the 2021 Drive-in Movie Series at Durfee High School. June’s movie will be “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.”
The event will also serve as this year's Kick-Off to Summer, which is usually hosted by Greater Fall River RE-CREATION in Ruggles Park. This is a free event, but you must have a ticket to enter by the Ray Street entrance. Tickets are now available on Eventbrite with a few dozen physical tickets available at Re-Creation at 45 Rock St and at Government Center. Be prepared to show a printed copy of this ticket upon arrival.
Grace S. Gerling is the Executive Director at Greater Fall River RE-CREATION. She is very excited about this year's event.
"Greater Fall River RE-CREATION is excited to welcome our community back outside on June 19th for our Kick-Off to Summer Event at Durfee High School," Gerling said. "Beginning at 5 pm, we will have free food donated by Domino’s, carnival games including basketball, a photo booth, caricature artists, giveaways, music and so much more! We are very thankful to The Office of Mayor Paul Coogan and Senator Michael Rodrigues for their support and sponsorship of this exciting yearly family event!"
Gates will open at 5 pm with plenty of time to enjoy the activities and giveaways before the show, or you can arrive closer to the start time for the movie at 8:15 pm. Free food will be on-site for families to enjoy. There will be raffle prizes available for all who join the festivities.
