Nothing beats coming home to a pet greeting you at the door. A pet can bring love and comfort into a home, something every family deserves to have.

While there are several ways of gaining a family pet, I urge you to consider adoption. Shelters act as a haven for so many animals, but many are struggling to find their forever homes. So every Wednesday, I team up with a shelter on the SouthCoast and give the spotlight to one local animal that is ready for adoption. For this week’s Wet Nose Wednesday, allow me to introduce you to Oochie.

Oochie currently resides at CARE SouthCoast in Acushnet and is described as sweet and loving. The shelter believes Oochie is around five to seven years old. Ruth Marshman tells me that he “had been tossed on the streets and shows the effects of life on the road but doesn’t hold it against humans.”

With his fiercely green eyes and beautiful black coat, Oochie patiently waits to find the perfect place to call home.

Want to meet Oochie? Take a visit to CARE SouthCoast. The shelter has just opened its doors for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic to anyone who wants to meet its animals. Oochie, along with his other furry friends, will be available to meet Wednesday night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. According to Facebook, they will also be open on Monday nights, and hopefully Saturday mornings as well.

Stay up to date on their hours and learn more about Oochie by following them on Facebook and visiting their website at caresouthcoast.com
