Dunkin’ Is Rolling Out a New Vegetarian-Friendly Breakfast Sandwich
Vegetarians, if you're tired of not seeing items on the menu that cater to you, Dunkin' is here to save the day.
Dunkin' will be testing out this new breakfast sandwich out at 163 lucky restaurants in Manhattan. Rightfully titled Beyond Sausage, this sandwich mimics the flavor and design of patties and sausages that are meat-based but instead made completely with plants.
Beyond Meat Inc. is the faux-meat company responsible for this new breakfast delight. Dunkin' is only one restaurant in their long line of fast-food clients. Beyond Meat also has items on menus at TGI Fridays nationwide, Carl’s Jr. and Del Taco.
This isn't the first time Dunkin' tried to be vegetarian-friendly. The chain began selling almond milk for lattes and cappuccinos in 2014, and earlier this summer rolled out a Morningstar Farms veggie patty in parts of this region. With the availability of these fairly new options on the rise, meat-eaters are increasingly testing out the products.
However, although it's 14 cents more than the original pork sausage patty, it's still a small price to pay for a healthier breakfast option. Once the plant product launches in Manhattan locations, the plan is to go national with the menu item and before you know it, Beyond Sausage could be at your hometown Dunkin'.
